Abstract

Voice2Gene is a HCI interactive installation depicting the notion that biotechnology is a modern day magic! The system allows the user to perform genetics engineering on E.Coli using voice command in the fashion that wizard cast a magical charm on an animal. Voice2Gene uses a voice recognition system to listen to the audience “magical charm” to trigger three syringes containing three different DNA plasmids which can make the bacterial hosts express red, green, blue colours. The aim of this project is to experiment with a non-traditional way that human interface with biological system, and push the boundary of Bio HCI.
